.art cluster and the garden eden

Ich war heute in Wuppertal zur WOGA Wuppertal alias "Kunst Cluster und der Garten Eden", eine Gemeinschaftsausstellung verschiedener Künstler und Fotografen in der Fabrik Elba.
Ein Freund von mir, Mitstudent Daniel Wocinski, stellte ein paar Bilder aus, genau wie Beate und Christian vom Clownfisch Magazin, Fotograf Christoph Wilde und einer meiner Fotografiedozenten Henrik Lietmann.
Ich war unter den ersten Besuchern und konnte nicht allzu lange bleiben, aber es war sehr interessant. Es gab ein breites spektrum an Ausstellern und Bildern, die am Ende des Postes gezeigt werden, aber weniger Worte und mehr Bilder!
Die Austellung ist übrigends noch bis morgen Eröffnet und meines Wissens nach spielt Sonntagabend auch noch eine Band. Ein Besuch lohnt sich.

Today I was in Wuppertal for the WOGA Wuppertal alias "Art Cluster and Garden the Eden", a exhibition of several artists in the Fabrik Elba. A friend of mine, fellow fotodesign student Daniel Wocinski, was part of the exihibition as well as Beate and Christian from Clownfisch Magazine, photographer Christoph Wilde and one of my photography lecturers Henrik Lietmann I was among the first visitors and didn't stay that long but it was quite interesting. A broad range of different artists and pictures was shown but less words, more pictures:

Ich weiß, lange, lange kein Eintrag. Dafür könnten in nächster Zeit einige folgen, denn ich war relativ aktiv. Nicht ganz so sehr, wie ich es mir erhofft hatte, aber dennoch ist einiges geschehen. Bald hier:

Solange mal etwas ganz anderes: Ein Gratisbuch für euch von niemand anderem als dem von mir vergötterten Neil Gaiman. Dieser stellt nämlich wieder einmal eines seiner Bücher gratis online, was ich für einen großartigen Schachzug halte um seine Bücher zu promoten und "an den Mann" zu bringen (nicht, dass er das nötig hätte). Diesmal ist es sein Buch Niemalsland, das zufälligerweise das erste Buch ist, das ich jemals von ihm gelesen habe. Leider verhindert mein siebartiges Hirn, dass ich mich daran erinnere, wie ich darauf gestoßen bin, aber für euch ist das ja egal.

And now to different things: A free book for you by the well known and worshipped (at least by me...) Neil Gaiman. He and his publisher put one of his books online again which I think is a wonderful thing to promote his books and bring more people into reading them 'though I guess there already is a legion of fans out there- me being one...
This time the chosen book is Neverwhere, the first one of his books I ever read. Unfortunately my sieve-like brain refuses to tell me where how I got my fingers on it but I guess that does not really matter to you, anyway.

.amsterdam

Wenn man nicht bloggt, heißt das nicht immer, dass nichts passiert. Manchmal passiert auch einfach zuviel, so wie in den letzten paar Tagen. Neben 5 Photoshootings in 3 Tagen, war ich auch in Amsterdam und bin zurück nach Bayern gefahren.
Da ich mit der Bearbeitung der "richtigen" Shootings nicht hinterher komme, beschränke ich mich solange erstmal auf Amsterdam.
Alles in allem kann ich sagen, ich bin sehr begeistert von dieser Stadt. Wunderschöne Architektur, nette Menschen, tolle Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.
Wäre es nicht so verdammt heiß gewesen, wäre ich nun auch um Close Up von Martin Schoeller reicher, aber wer hat schon Lust einen schweren Bildband bei über 30°C durch die Gegend zu schleppen. Offenbar setzen meine bibliophilen Anwandlungen bei hohen Temperaturen aus. Man lernt nie aus.
Was kann man noch sagen über Amsterdam? Die Häuer sind großartig schief, es ist ein Ort, der sich perfekt für Streetphotography eignet (zumindest wenn man nicht wie ich ist und statt einem Kaffee eine Kamera in der Hand hat, wenn sich einem das perfekte Bild präsentiert) und wenn man die Chance hat, sollte man wirklich eine Grachtenfahrt machen. Es lohnt sich.
Wovon ich jedoch abraten muss, ist das Torture Museum. Ich habe selten ein so enttäuschendes Museum erlebt. Klein, schlecht designt, uninformativ und verhältnismäßig viel zu teuer. Es hält keinesfalls das, was es verspricht. Absolut Verzichtbar.
Anders als die Stadt selbst. Amsterdam ist wunderschön und ruft zu einem weiteren Besuch.


Not blogging does not always mean that nothing is happening. Sometimes it is just too much, like the last few days have proven. Besides five shootings in three days, I visited Amsterdam and drove back to Bavaria. Since I am still behind postprogressing the real shootings, I'll just tell you some things about Amsterdam. I just love that city. Beautiful architecture, nice people and good shopping opportunities. If it hadn't been so damn hot, I'd also be richer by the book Close Up by Matin Schoeller, but really- who likes to carry around a big book like this with more than 90° Fahrenheit? Apparently even my bibliophile moods are forgotten when it is really hot. You never stop learning... What else can I tell you about Amsterdam? The houses are wonderfully crooked, it is a perfect place for street photography (if you are unlike me and having a camera in your hands instead of a cup of coffee while seeing the perfect picture...) and if you have the chance, take a boattour. Though you can do without the Torture Museum because it is really not worth the money. It is small, badly designed and the information you get are very vague. Absolutely abdictable. The city itself is beautiful and I can hardly wait my next visit. Read More......
